The Whitsunday Writers Festival celebrated its seventh year in 2016, Abell Point Marina proudly sponsored this Whitsunday event by providing Lure, our waterfront function venue, as the location for the festival weekend. With stunning views over the marina and state-of-the-art facilities the visiting guest speakers and festival participants were delighted with the ambiance the Lure setting provided.

The Down Under Rally is a group of like minded cruising yachties heading from Australia to New Caledonia or vice versa for the cruising season. The aim of the rally is to provide information and support to cruisers who may not have traveled that route previously and to form bonds and friendships with like-minded people, who may choose to travel the route together.
Abell Point Marina show their support for this rally by providing informative seminars to the participants about cruising the Whitsundays and Great Barrier Reef regions, as part of the Down Under Rally welcome week held in Bundaberg.

Whitsunday Sporting Car Club hosted the Abell Point Marina 2016 Australian Khanacross Championships at Tonker Park in September. The championship was run on both bitumen and gravel formats which proved to be the ultimate skill test for the drivers and an action packed weekend for the spectators.
The awards and presentation night was held at Lure, Abell Point Marina and a great championship was had by all. With records numbers attending the event as spectators, the event was hailed a success by all involved.
